Family Caregivers Month

We are the Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization, working to improve the quality of care for Medicare beneficiaries. Our site offers beneficiary and family-centered care information for providers, patients, and families. Welcome!

Home / Family Caregivers Month

November is Family Caregivers Month

November is National Family Caregivers Month, a chance to recognize the important work caregivers do and to remind them they are not alone.

We have gathered information and tools that can help you care for others while also caring for yourself.

Healthcare providers and advocacy groups, please share with your patients and communities.

Information for Caregivers

Free Immediate Advocacy Services

Immediate Advocacy is a free service from Acentra Health that helps caregivers of people with Medicare quickly solve problems with medical care or services. If something is not going as expected, such as confusion about a treatment plan, follow-up care, or getting needed equipment, our team can step in to help.

We work directly with the doctor, hospital, or other healthcare provider to find a solution that works for everyone as quickly as possible.

Who are family caregivers?

The term “family caregiver” describes someone who cares for members of their family of origin but also refers to those who care for their family of choice. This could be members of their congregation, neighbors, or close friends.

Caregiving could include helping someone by

  • giving a ride to the store,
  • helping with meals,
  • accompanying them to a doctor's appointment, or
  • calling to see how they're doing.
