Flu shots have important benefits: reducing flu illnesses, doctor visits, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as making symptoms less severe.
In the United States, flu season usually happens in the fall and winter. While the flu can spread any time of year, it’s most common between December and February. Planning and talking with your doctor early in the season can help you stay healthy all winter long.
Visit medicare.gov for information about coverage for the flu shot. If you’re in a Medicare Advantage plan, check with your plan to see where you should go to get your flu shot and make sure it’s covered.
